Document translation
The majority of our business is document translation. Translation from and into almost any language. In 17 years of business there have been a very few occasions when we have been unable to translate a document in an obscure language combination – such as from English into Tagalog. That is to say we have not felt qualified to translate the document or we have been unable to translate it within the required time deadline. But we can translate all types of documents and subjects to and from all the major languages and the majority of the less commonly used ones.
When you send your project to us we match it with a translator who has knowledge of and experience with your industry's technical terminology. Sometimes if a project is large and a timeline short, we may use a team of translators on one project. However, we prefer when possible to assign one single translator to each project in order to ensure consistency of style, approach and use of terminology.
Certificate of translation
Many of our clients require a “certified” translation. A client usually needs it because it has been requested by a government agency or educational institution that requires proof that the document was translated by a qualified and independent individual translator, and not by the client.
All of our translations are put through the same processes and rigorous quality assurance, regardless of whether or not they are to be certified. So the translation itself is not different just because it is to be “certified”.
Our Certificate of Translation is a separate notarized document that is signed by an authorized manager of International Language Option which provides information referencing the document that has been translation and which states that the translation has been professionally and competently translated. Our certifications are accepted by USCIS (US immigration service), country embassies and other agencies.
We issue our notarized certifications on behalf of the company because the final translation product is a compilation of the efforts of several individuals. Although you may have received specific requirements for producing a certificate of translation, and may even have been provided with sample wording for the production of such a certificate, we assure our clients that our own Certificates of Translation have been generally accepted for 17 years of doing business.

Document formatting
We format translated documents so that their presentation matches the English original exactly or as closely as possible. This is often necessary because the word volume can vary significantly from one language to another. It is also sometimes necessary when the document contains tables or graphics with text boxes that require to be translated. This is true for Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, etc. This involves document formatting but not complex desktop-publishing.
Desktop Publishing
Some projects involve documents with complex desktop-publishing - graphics and images, text wrapping around images, multiple columns, etc. These projects can be handled in two ways.
Often clients often prefer to do their own desktop-publishing of documents and incorporation of translated text so as to maximize the use of their own in-house staff. We are happy to help facilitate this and in such cases we recommend that clients return the final foreign language typeset copy to us for a final proofreading. Otherwise there is a risk that there may have been accidental erasures of text, words hyphenated wrongly at line breaks, etc. or that last-minute additions (headings, captions, word changes) by well-meaning non-linguists may contain errors.
If the client prefers, we can also fully desktop-publish and produce the final print-ready foreign language document for you. Our desktop publishing specialists work in association with our linguists to ensure that all layout and design issues are handled properly in the foreign language. We also do a final proofreading of the desktop-published document.
